Alexa Loewen, MSW, RSW
Alexa enjoys connecting with people and being a helper in whatever capacity is needed. She is a Registered Social Worker with the Manitoba College of Social Work (MCSW) and holds both a Master and Bachelor degree in Social Work, as well as a Bachelor of Human Ecology where she specialized in Child and Adolescent Development and Family Violence and Conflict Resolution.
Alexa works from a person-centred approach and believes every person knows what is best for them, her job being to provide a safe and empowering space to process emotions, feelings and experiences and support holistic wellbeing – all with a dose of kindness and good-natured humour. In her 10+ years of experience in the social services, she has worked alongside many children, adults and families through various life circumstances and experiences such as: grief and loss, involvement in the child welfare system, mental health and illness, employment and income stress, family separation and changes to family system, and crisis intervention. She primarily works with children and adolescents through an attachment and trauma-informed approach, incorporating expressive arts and play, mindfulness and cognitive behavioural therapy in her work. She is currently completing a certificate program in Focusing-Oriented Therapy and Trauma-Informed Practice, and holds a number of certificates in therapeutic play and Theraplay.
