Jahna Hardy, MSW, RSW, RPT, FOT
Jahna brings a rich history of personal and professional experience to her therapy practice. She has spent the past 15 years working with individuals and their families/support systems in a variety of settings including wilderness, school, health, community and private practice.
She completed her Master of Social Work from the University of Manitoba in the Indigenous Knowledge Cluster, is a Registered Play Therapist and Focusing Oriented Therapist. She is registered with the Manitoba College of Social Workers (MCSW), Association for Play Therapy (APT) and The International Focusing Institute.
Her area of interest is in Indigenous mental health, and she works primarily to support holistic wellbeing of Indigenous people both in First Nation communities and private practice in rural Manitoba. She has been afforded the opportunity to work along-side Ancestral Knowledge Keepers, Elders and Traditional Support workers and integrates Indigenous ways of knowing, being and doing into her work. With a sincere desire to honour Truth and Reconciliation she focuses on building respectful relationships, educating on the ongoing impacts of colonization and lived-learning from her Indigenous friends and neighbours. In ongoing efforts to provide culturally competent care she has completed advanced trainings with therapeutic focus on trauma informed ethical practice, implicit, non-directive, expressive and land-based approaches.
As a Foster Parent for 8 years, she has personal experience of providing a nurturing environment and building healthy attachment to children in care, working with their support systems and being a part of reunification and restoration of family. These personal experiences coupled with her professional work have provided her with a sincere appreciation and sensitivity to the complexities involved with our Child Welfare System. She is a strong advocate in ensuring children’s rights and best interest are upheld.
She has expertise in areas of crisis intervention, assessment, attachment and treatment of post-traumatic stress resulting from complex trauma. She operates from a holistic, relational, strength based, recovery focused approach, incorporating play and humour into her work.
Jahna and her husband Matt co-own Elements CTS LTD. She is family focussed, an avid hockey mom, athlete, community supporter, world traveller and lifelong learner. She can be found trucking around the Interlake with a vehicle full of kids exploring arenas, gyms and the natural environment, sweating with her youth and exploring the next educational program to apply for.
