Shayna Spence, Action Therapist
Shayna has been working with youth in a variety of volunteer, community and therapeutic positions for the past 10 years. Originally from Peguis First Nation, Shayna attended the University of Manitoba to study Fine Arts and has returned to her neighbouring community of Fisher River to live and work.
Shayna leads a life following the Red Road and has experience with cultural practices such as powwow dancing, attending sweat lodges and other ceremonies. Shayna has been a Powwow dancer for 26 years, holding the Peguis Powwow Princess title for 3 years. Shayna combines both her artistic and cultural ways of expressing to her work with youth through Action Therapy.
Shayna has been a professional clown for 15 years bringing awareness to issues such as drugs and alcohol, self-love and Indigenous empowerment. Her clown character name is Sprinkle, and she can be found clowning around with her sister Twinkle.
Shayna enjoys sewing, beading, gardening and plants, attending ceremony, camping and going mudding on her quad.
