Sheila Hillier, Action Therapist, Artist 

Sheila was born and raised in northern Manitoba.  She has spent the past 30 plus years working in the Interlake, providing crisis intervention and counseling support to victims of domestic violence and at-risk youth using a wrap-around, holistic approach.  Sheila has participated in several local, regional and provincial initiatives including the creation of the local Evergreen Basic Needs, Manitoba Women’s Advisory Council and Silent Witness Project.  

Sheila leads a life following the Red Road, seeking the good life, finding balance within the physical, emotional, spiritual and mental aspects of one’s life. (Mino-Pimatisiwin).   Sheila is a mother and grandmother. She considers herself a helper, is actively involved in cultural practises and follows the 7 sacred teachings.  She is a pipe carrier, picks medicine, participates in sweats and attends ceremonies throughout the year.   

Sheila is an artist who works with canvas, wood, stone, antler and leather.  Sheila is always willing to share her knowledge and sees her art as a form of therapy.  

Sheila strongly believes that our connection to the land and our culture is the key to realizing our true purpose and encourages us to walk in a good way.
